France will enter the 2015 IFAF Senior World Championship as the current European Championship Bronze Medalists having defeated Finland 35-21. The upcoming tournament will be France’s fourth consecutive appearance at the IFAF Senior World Championship. 2011 was France’s best performance reaching the 5th Place game with a big 24-16 victory against Austria in group stage. The French fought hard against Germany just falling short 21-17 to finish sixth place. The attack was lead by running back Laurent Marceline who ran for 107 yard including two touchdowns.
The first French team Spartacus de Paris was formed in 1980 and in turn the French Federation of American Football (FFFA) was born in 1983. In 1995, the FFFA created the Elite Championship first division. In 2013, the French Federation of American Football has 204 clubs and more than 21,650 licensees.
