The United States will enter the tournament as back-to-back reigning champions looking to become the first country to win gold in three consecutive IFAF Senior World Championships. USA Football is governing body for American Football and is responsible for assembling all national teams that compete in IFAF organized competitions.

In 2007, the United States made their debut in the IFAF Senior World Championship competition a memorable one as the Americans defeated the then reigning champions Japan in double overtime. USA successfully defended their title in 2011 beating Canada in the Gold-Medal game held in Austria. Along the way, USA broke a few records including –  number of rushing touchdowns in a tournament with 14, total yards gained with 1,592 yards, points scored recording 176 points in 2011. Defensively the Americans made their presence known breaking the record for fewest rushing yards allowed in a tournament impressively only letting their opponents tally 97 total yards.
